Fife Flyers vs Braehead Clan game summary

Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, welcomed the Braehead Clan on Sunday evening as Todd Dutiaume's side looked to finish their 3 game weekend with another win over their Gardiner Conference rivals.

Flyers went into the game without British defenceman Chris Wands who picked up during training earlier in the week. Braehead were without forwards Adam Brace and Lee Esders.

First period action saw Flyers dominate the play heavily outshooting John Tripp's side by 20 shots to 6.

It wasn't until 12:16 however that Flyers got their opening goal of the game as defenceman Tommy Muir's shot from the blueline was redirected by James Isaacs beyond Ryan Nie in the Braehead net.

Just over a minute later Flyers doubled their lead after some great work along the boards from forward Danick Gauthier found Ričards Birziņš who set up Liam Heelis with an easy tap in at 13:42.

Following a hugely disappointing 1st period Braehead returned from the dressing room and got their opening goal of the game 12 seconds into the 2nd period when Jacob Doty fired a shot beyond Andy Iles in the Flyers net to bring it back to a 2-1 game.

Despite losing a goal early in the period Flyers never looked fazed and at 25:51 Evan Bloodoff got his 5th goal of the season when he converted on the powerplay. Shortly after Bloodoff got his 2nd goal of the game when he made it 4-1 to Flyers at 31:45.

Liam Heelis scored arguably the goal of the game at 34:55 to make it 5-1 going into the dressing room at the end of the 2nd period.

The 3rd period of the game saw Flyers ease off the pace and close down the game, however Braehead got a 2nd goal of the evening when at 56:08 Craig Cescon made it 5-2 on the night.
