Charlie Mosey - September Player of the Month

The 2017/18 Elite Ice Hockey League season is now one month old and today we are pleased to announce the recipient of the September Player of the Month award.

Fans were given the opportunity to vote for their player of the month having been given a list of 4 candidates, Liam Heelis, Andy Iles, Charlie Mosey and Ian Young.

The first player of the month was a close run vote but we can reveal that the winner, as voted by the fans, is forward Charlie Mosey.

Mosey, 26, joined the Flyers after spending the season icing alongside 2 of his current teammates, Andy Iles and Ian Young in the ECHL with Elmira Jackals.

Having initially signed on a short term contract, Mosey made a huge impression on not just the coaching staff who rewarded him with a long-term contract, but his work ethic has made him a firm fan favourite already.

"I have really enjoyed my time in Fife. The fans, team, and rest of the organization have been very welcoming, making the adjustment here easy. It truly has been a wonderful experience in the little time I've spent here, and I appreciate all of the support from the fans.

"Playing in the EIHL has been a unique experience. Seeing different parts of Scotland has been eye-opening, and I am looking forward to traveling throughout the rest of the U.K. As for the league, I am curious to see how we stack up against the other teams as we have only played a few of them thus far.

"It's more of a wide open and offensive game here with the bigger ice sheet. The North American style can be more defensive at times because defenders are able to close in quicker, leaving you with less time to make plays. With more space to operate on the bigger ice, defenders have to respect your speed and play making ability. I feel that this style fits our team well because we have fast skaters and playmakers who thrive off of extra time and space.
