Chase Schaber visits SpecsaversFife Flyers ice hockey player Chase Schaber dropped into a Leven opticians and audiologists this week to ensure his sight was in top condition ahead of his upcoming matches.

The sporting star is a fan favourite and knows how important it is to be alert on the ice. He visited Specsavers Leven ahead of National Eye Health Week (18-24 September) for a routine check.

Chase says: ‘Ensuring you have your eyes checked regularly, and have an up to date prescription if required, is important regardless of your profession. Your eyes can be a window to general health and shouldn’t be neglected.

‘I’d like to thank the team at Specsavers for their friendly and professional service. I would encourage everyone who hasn’t had an eye test in the last two years to book one now.’

Recent YouGov data, commissioned by Specsavers and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), found that people in the UK are not taking their eye health as seriously as they should – despite regular eye tests being able to potentially detect signs of major health conditions, including brain tumours, heart disease, strokes and diabetes.

Adrian McCann, store director at Specsavers Leven, says: ‘We are proud to support RNIB and National Eye Health Week so it was great to welcome star player Chase into our store this week to help us raise awareness of the importance of regular eye tests.

‘We would like to wish Chase and the Fife Flyers team the best of luck for their upcoming matches – fingers crossed for a successful season.’

Specsavers stores across Fife including Leven, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Fife Healthcall are part of the ‘Great 8’ sponsors for the professional team this season.
