Game Preview vs Edinburgh Capitals

This weekend the Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, are in competitive action for the first time this season as they begin their Challenge Cup campaign with the visit of the Edinburgh Capitals to Fife Ice Arena this Saturday.

Following an unprecenedted 6 game preseason, which saw Flyers record 3 wins and 3 losses, Todd Dutiaume's side head into competitive action more prepared than ever.

The Capitals preseason schedule saw them record 2 wins and 3 losses after defeating the Dundee Stars on 2 occasions but falling to narrow losses against University of Manitoba, Dundee Stars and the Braehead Clan.

Following the weekend's Scottish Elite Cup final loss to Braehead Clan head coach Todd Dutiaume was upbeat with how his team has shaped up "I was disappointed with the overall result but the actual performance I was thrilled with. This is the type of team we look to recruit, I really liked our pushback, it could have been easy to fold up but we ran them right to the buzzer.

"This is a young group that will mature into our game, there are a few areas we have identified we want to work on, and we are still missing a couple of key pieces but when you build that in to the line up it makes for an exciting season coming up.

"We knew we had 4 weeks to build up to our Challenge Cup opener, it has been a building process but I am definitely happy with where the team are right now."
