The inaugrual Scottish Elite Cup final will go down as one that won't be forgotten for some time as Flyers faced off against their Scottish rivals the Braehead Clan on Sunday at Murrayfield Ice Rink.

With both sets of fans in full voice from the first puck drop it was sure to be an explosive game on the ice. The referee in charge was Pavel Halas.

Flyers dominated the opening period but were unable to get on the scoresheet, and with it looking likely that the teams would head to the dressing room tied at 0-0, former Flyers forward Brendan Brooks gave the Clan a 1-0 lead inside the final 30 seconds, the goal coming very much against the run of play.

Just over halfway through the second period Danick Gauthier and Landon Oslanksi dropped the gloves in the corner following a check from Gauthier on a Clan defenceman.

Braehead kept the pressure on with another goal in the first half of the second as Landon Oslanski found the back of the Fife net to give the Clan a 2-0 lead.

Braehead grabbed a 3rd goal as Craig Peacock beat Andy Iles in the Fife net for a 3rd time.

Ian Young dropped the gloves with experienced fighter Craig Cescon in the 3rd period, which was to be the start of a crazy final period.

Next to drop the gloves was Flyers defenceman Tommy Muir who went toe to toe with a much bigger Tyler Shattock, however despite the the size difference it was Muir who got the better of the Canadian.

Following on from the Muir v Shattock bout, Liam Heelis and Brendan Brooks had a short lived fight as the linesmen intervened quickly.

Chase Schaber was next to get in on the action as he squared off with Clan's Oslanksi.

Ian Young ensured that Braehead's Ryan Nie didn't secure a shutout when he sent the puck beyond the Clan netminder.
