Fife Flyers headed into the inaugrual Scottish Elite Cup having already played 4 pre-season fixtures and recording 2 wins and 2 losses as they registered a win and loss against both EC Kassel Huskies and Herlev Eagles.

Dundee Stars have already had their first competitive game, a 3-2 Challenge Cup shootout victory over Belfast Giants

The opening five minutes of the 1st period saw both sides evenly matched, until Danick Gauthier got his first goal for Fife, with the assist going to Chase Schaber. Chase Schaber doubled Flyers lead after firing a shot beyond Travis Fullerton in the Stars net, with the assists going to Russ Mosey and Charlie Moyer.

Dundee started the 2nd period on the powerplay and got a goal back after Chris Lawrence redirected a shot beyond Andy Iles in the Flyers net to make it a one goal game, however not for long. Liam Heelis restored Flyers 2 goal lead when he picked up a loss puck in front of Travis Fullerton and fired a shot in to the back of the Stars net to make it 3-1 to Fife

Heading into the final period Dundee still had a chance to pull it back, but Flyers proved to be too strong for them .

Carlo Finucci beat Fullerton in the Stars net with a lovely wraparound goal that made it 4-1 to Flyers.

Defenceman Ričards Birziņš made it 5-1 when he skated in unmarked toward the back of Travis Fullerton's back post and batted the puck into the Stars net.

Dundee pulled a goal back when Johan Andersson picked up the puck in front of the Flyers net and fired the puck between the pads of Andy Iles to make it 5-2.

Liam Heelis wrapped up the scoring for Flyers with a beautiful backhand solo goal to beat Travis Fullerton and seal a 6-2 victory
