Brooks focused for GB games

Fife Flyers forward Brendan Brooks says he is excited to be joining up with the Team GB squad as they renew their rivalry with Poland this weekend.

Team GB and Poland meet at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Friday (7:30pm) and in Coventry's Skydome on Saturday (1pm).

The two games are part of both sides' preparations for their respective World Championship, with Team GB hosting their first men's tournament for 25 years in Belfast later this month.

"I've been definitely keeping in shape. It hasn't been that long since the season ended and I've been able to get on the ice a couple times by myself." Brooks said.

"Going into these games against Poland it is about getting prepared for the World Championships in Belfast. Working on our systems getting a feel for one another and making sure our compete level is back to where it should be.

Brooks has been announced in Team GB's initial 28 man squad, with head coach Pete Russell having to reduce his roster down to 23 for the World Championship tournament which is being held in Belfast from the 23rd to 29th April.

"My plan is definitely to be a part of the 23 man roster. I think it would be a huge honour to be on the squad and represent GB. I wouldn't be going if I wasn't serious about being on the team and help go for the gold".
