Carlo Finucci in action vs Braehead Clan

Saturday evening saw Fife Ice Arena hold it's penultimate regular season home game of the 2016/17 Elite Ice Hockey League season as Flyers welcomed conference rivals Braehead Clan.

The opening period saw end to end action as both teams applied pressure on both netminders as they went looking for the opening goal of the game. With several goal scoring opportunities for Flyers it was Todd Dutiaume's side who had the better of the opening period.

Ryan Dingle and Matt Sisca each found themselves on breakaway opportunities but were unable to find a way through Michal Zajkowski in the Clan net.

The first penalty of the game came at 15:26 when Scott Aarssen was given a 2 minute slashing penalty. On the resulting powerplay Chase Schaber tipped in a shot from Sebastien Thinel to put Flyers 1-0 up at 15:48.

The high tempo action continued in the second period with both teams moving the puck well. Flyers did have the puck in the Braehead Clan net twice only for both to be waved off on both occasions. The first goal was waved off after referee Pavel Halas blew the play dead as he had no clear sight of the puck despite it being loose in the Clan crease. The 2nd coming after the Braehead net had been off its moorings but the goal was waved off after the puck had crossed the line.

Braehead who tied the game after Stefan Della Rovere fired the puck beyond Shane Owen in the Fife net at 37:01.

Into the final period and Flyers thought they had got the go ahead goal only for the goal judge light to go on but not goal given.

Flyers did get on the score sheet again this when Mathew Sisca fired a rocket of the shot in to the Clan net beyond Michal Zajkowski.

With the clock running down, Braehead pulled netminder Zajkowski for the extra skater and it was upto Russ Moyer to wrap up the game from beside his own net when he scored Flyers 3rd goal of the game at 59:25.
