Fife Flyers Carlo Finucci in action vs Braehead Cla

The FiFab Fife Flyers welcomed Gardiner Conference rivals the Braehead Clan on Sunday night to Fife Ice Arena in their final home game before Christmas. Flyers were looking to return to winning ways after 3 defeats against conference rivals Manchester Storm, Edinburgh Capitals and away to Manchester on Saturday night.

Opening period action saw Braehead take an early lead as Corey Cowick found Mike Hammond coming in at the back post to shoot the puck passed Shane Owen in the Fife net.

Flyers responded positively with chances for Matt Sisca, Russ Moyer and Brendan Brooks, only for all 3 to be denied by Clan netminder Michal Zajkowski.

Flyers did get themselves on the scoreboard when they tied the game up at 25:22 after a fine shot from Carlo Finucci, from just inside the Braehead zone, found the back of the net.

The game got heated as the 2nd period continued, when a fight broke out in front of the Flyers bench which resulted in Flyers' James Isaac and Braehead's Kyle Wharton being ejected from the game by referee Neil Wilson at 27:10.

Further penalties were handed out at 33:58 when Braehead's Cody Carlson hit Carlo Finucci up against the boards, Carlson was given a 2+10 for checking to the head.

As the 2nd period was drawing to a close Braehead regained the lead on the counter attack when Scott Pitt found Matt Because who slid the puck passed Shane Owen to make it 2-1 at 38:36.

A disappointing 3rd period saw Braehead wrap up the win after Zach Sullivan made it 3-1 at 42:35 before Clan man of the match Alex Leavitt finished the scoring for the night at 49:09.
