 Chase Schaber scores vs Braehead

The FiFab Fife Flyers welcomed Gardiner Conference rivals the Braehead Clan on Saturday night to Fife Ice Arena as Flyers looked for their 5th home win in a row.

It was Braehead who got an early go ahead goal when after only 27 seconds Matt Beca flicked home a close rang shot following a mix up in the Flyers defensive zone.

Flyers looked to get back in the game immediately when Sebastien Thinel and Ryan Dingle combined to set up Chase Schaber who couldn't find the net.

At 7:46 Braehead were given the first penalty of the game after referee Toby Craig called a 2 minute holding penalty on goal scorer Beca. On the resulting powerplay Chase Schaber tipped in the puck from Ric Jackman shot to make it 1-1 after 8:18.

Braehead retook the lead at 12:29 when Alex Leavitt found space at Shane Owen's back post and fired the puck into the net to make it 2-1.

With 1:46 left in the opening period Brendan Brooks and Matt Sisca combined to set up Chase Schaber for his 2nd goal of the evening as he slotted the puck in at the back post to beat Gary Russell in the Clan goal.

As the teams returned for the 2nd period it was Braehead who had another explosive start as the took the lead at 20:58 when Craig Peacock scored his first goal of the night. 

Matt Sisca got Fife back in the game at 23:46 after an excellent passing move from Carlo Finucci and Brendan Brooks. 10 seconds later Matt Sisca gave Fife the lead when he fired a beauty of a shot beyond Gary Russell to make it 4-3.

Braehead tied the game at 24:28 as Craig Peacock scored his second goal of the game. 

After damage to the boards at the Fife team bench with 5:21 to go in the 2nd period, referee Toby Craig called an early end to the period and both teams headed to their respective dressing rooms, with the remaining 5:21 to be played after the teams returned from the 2nd intermission break.

Kyle Haines gave Flyers an early 3rd period lead when he put the puck passed Gary Russell to make it 5-4 to Fife at 41:04.

Flyers lead didn't last as Daniel Ahsberg tied the game 12 seconds later. Braehead scored the game winning goal when Scott Pitt found space that the back post to fire the puck in at 55:24 and make it Fife Flyers 5 Braehead Clan 6.
